In a shocking incident, as many as two migrant workers were killed in a terrorist attack in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. The incident took place late last night, say reliable reports. This is said to be the second attack of terrorists in a short span of just ten days.
The two workers reportedly belonged to Chhattisgarh and were fired at in the incident of the terrorist attack in Kulgam. In the firing, one of them succumbed on the spot while the other person breathed his last in the hospital. The deceased have been identified as Deepak and Bhupinder.
The Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah, has condoled the deaths of the migrant workers. He announced an ex-gratia relief of Rs.10 lakh each from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the next of kin of the deceased. This will be in addition to the immediate assistance of Rs. 6 lakh each to be provided by the District Administration.
He took to his official X handle and wrote, “Chief Minister has strongly condemned the dastardly killing of two labourers in Kulgam and expressed profound grief over the loss of innocent lives.”
The X post further read, “He announced ex-gratia relief of ₹10 lakh each from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the next of kin of the deceased. This will be in addition to the immediate assistance of ₹6 lakh each to be provided by the District Administration.”
In conclusion, “The Chief Minister conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and reaffirmed that the Government stands firmly with them during this difficult time.”
Following the terrorist attack in Kulgam, security has been beefed up in the area. The combing operation has been intensified by the army and the police personnel. Further detailed reports awaited in this matter.
