Online cab drivers

Following the online cab drivers protest and their unruly behaviour in Lower PMG of Bhubaneswar today, the Government has decided to move in action mode. The Odisha government has decided that it shall expand the services of the Odisha Yatri app.

It is worth mentioning here that, there was a mega clash between police and protesters on Wednesday. The reports say that, the protesters attacked police and pelted stones. Following this the police resorted to lathi charge to control the mob. Police also detained some protesters.

The protest of the online cab drivers prompted the government to decide on betterment of the services of the Odisha Yatri app. The Urban Development Department will coordinate with the Transport Department.

The expansion of  the Odisha Yatri app will help passengers and they will not face any more issues. The emphasis will be given on providing services to the people and privileges to the drivers. Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mohapatra said that a meeting has been held to discuss how the Odisha Yatri App can be used in all cities.

The cab drivers are on strike since Monday for the fulfilment of their demands. The online cab drivers have resorted to ‘Zero Supply’ protest with a seven-point charter of demands. The Online Driver Forum of Odisha and all online and offline driver organizations has announced an indefinite “Zero Supply” protest in Cuttack-Bhubaneswar. They are also protesting against the exploitation of app companies like Ola, Uber, Rapido.
