Trader bodies across India have announced a ‘No UPI Day’ October 2 to protest the new merchant fees on UPI transactions.
Traders Associations across the country have decided to follow the ‘No UPI Day’ in order to protest against the 0.4 percent Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) on Unified Payments Interface (UPI) transactions above ₹2,000 from October 15.
The traders plan to cover QR Codes, UPI Scanners, Sound Boxes and other relative devices with black clothes as a symbol of protest on October 2, which is also celebrated as Gandhi Jayanti across the country.
The Maharashtra Chamber Of Commerce, Industry & Agriculture (MACCIA) has called to observe October 2 as ‘No UPI Day’, which has got massive support from trader associations across the country.
Ravindra Mangave, president of MACCIA confirmed MACCIA and its 500 affiliate associations will meet the chief minister and place their demands before him on October 2.
