India celebrates 80th Independence Day

As India celebrates 80th Independence Day, PM Modi addressed the nation from the ramparts of Red Fort. From the ramparts of the Red Fort, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “For everyone present at this ceremony today, this is also a historic moment. For the first time since independence, ‘Vande Mataram’ is resounding at the Red Fort on August 15th.” “Today, we are all celebrating the 80th Independence Day. Today, the chant of ‘Vande Mataram’ resonates in every heart. Today, the Tricolour flies in every home and dwells in every mind; the nation is moving forward with enthusiasm and zeal, embracing new resolutions,” he further added as India celebrates 80th Independence Day.

The playing of the tune of Vande Mataram was historic because, the full version of the song was recently accorded the same legal protection as the National Anthem. Further, during the Independence Day address of President Droupadi Murmu on Friday it was played ahead of and at the conclusion of the speech.

In his speech PM Modi further said, “We must become self-reliant and protect our interests. Today, every Indian is getting connected with initiatives of Make in India, Swadeshi, Vocal for Local.”

In his speech PM Modi emphasized on self-reliance and said, “Self-reliance will pave the way for India to become Viksit Bharat.” He spoke about how India has gained in terms of energy, piped gas line, women empewerment and manufacturing industry.

“India has a stable political mandate, a stable government, a vibrant democracy, a strong judicial system and a Constitution that guides us all. The recent trade agreements we have signed provide a great opportunity for us. I want to tell our MSMEs that we must not miss this opportunity,” said PM Modi in his Independence Day speech.

Talking about aims and goals ahead PM Modi said, “The fourth ‘shakti’ of the Sapta Dhara is ‘Gati-shakti’, seamless fast connectivity in the country. We need seamless high-speed rail connectivity, modern highway connectivity, inland waterways, airports, multi-modal logistics hubs and ports. We have to work towards port-led development. The fifth ‘shakti’ is Defence production, in which we must become self-reliant and aim to become a global supplier.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in conclusion, “I announce today from the Red Fort that we will establish a vibrant Civil Defence network in the coming days. We will familiarize them with modern systems..”
