All schools closed in Khurda district till October 28 due to the impact of Cyclone Arnab.
In view of the impact of Cyclone Arnab, all government, government-aided, and private schools in Khurda district will remain closed till October 28, 2026.
The School Holiday Announcement Read As Follows
In view of the impact of Cyclone Arnab, all government, government-aided, and private schools in Khordha district will remain closed from 1 PM today and tomorrow (October 27 and October 28, 2026).
The district administration has issued instructions in this regard. Instructions have been issued for the closure of all schools in the district from kindergarten to Class XII.
However, all teachers and staff of the schools will remain present at the schools. Instructions have been given to prepare school buildings and ancillary arrangements to deal with the possible cyclone.
Instructions have been given to headmasters and principals to implement roster duty for keeping the schools open 24 hours. Instructions have been issued to strictly follow this immediately. Along with this, the holidays of all government employees have been canceled until October 31.

Schools and Colleges Closed In 5 Other Districts in Odisha
Cyclone Arnab is slated to make landfall near Andhra Pradesh. It is likely to make landfall on the afternoon of the October 28. Cyclone Arnab is expected to affect North Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha. At this time, there will be heavy rain and wind in South Odisha.
Ganjam, Gajapati, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Kalahandi are likely to be severely affected. Keeping this in mind and according to the latest Odisha cyclone update schools and colleges have been closed in Malkangiri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput and Rayagada districts on the October 28 and October 29.
The district collectors of the remaining districts will take a decision on the situation after looking into the severity of the cyclone. However, the state government is fully prepared to deal with the cyclone.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said that ‘zero casualty’ is the main goal of the state government.
