heavy rainfall in Odisha

Heavy to very heavy rainfall in Odisha is expected for the next seven days. The Regional MeT office has issued a warning in this regard.

Monsoon related rainfall is likely in many places in the state. People have been warned of heavy rain at many places for the next seven days, that is till the 11 August. Rain is likely to occur in the entire state in the next 24 hours.

Orange warning has been issued for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Mayurbhanj. Yellow warning has been issued for heavy rain in as many as ten districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Sambalpur. The Meteorological Department has issued yellow warning for light to moderate rain with gusty winds of 30 to 40 kmph in the remaining 19 districts.

The amount of rainfall is likely to increase from tomorrow. Orange alert has been issued for heavy to very heavy rain in Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts for tomorrow. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow warning for heavy rainfall in 16 districts of Malkangiri, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Koraput, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Bhadrak, Balasore, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh and Sundergarh.

It is worth mentioning here that, the highest rainfall that is of 80 mm has been recorded in Angul and Talcher in the last 24 hours.
