Puri Jagannath Temple closed for almost four hours for devotees on Wednesday. The servitors will perform the Bamana Janma Niti or ritual.
The ritual will be performed from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM that is for six hours. During this time, the temple shall remain closed for public darshan.
The official announcement of Puri Jagannath Temple closed read, “On Wednesday, 23 September 2026, Bhadraba Shukla Dwadashi Tithi, the Bamana Janma Niti will be performed at Shree Jagannatha Temple.”
Further, “Accordingly, after Madhyana Dhupa Chheka, public darshan will remain temporarily suspended tentatively from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM.”
Earlier on September 4, 2026, Puri Jagannath Temple was closed for almost four hours for the devotees. The servitors performed the Krushna Janma Niti or ritual.
The ritual was performed from 7:00 PM to 12:00 AM midnight that is for four hours. During this time, the temple remained closed for public darshan.
The Official Account of Shree Jagannatha Temple Administration, Puri informed the same on their official X handle. The notice read, “On Friday, 4 September 2026, on the occasion of Bhadraba Krushna Ashtami tithi, Krushna Janma Niti will be performed at Shree Jagannatha Temple.”
