In a shocking incident, a leopard spotted in Nuapada district of Odisha creating panic among the locals. Sources say that, the leopard was roaming near the road near the Sunabeda–Jamgaon road. It was reported near the Sunabeda Wildlife Sanctuary in Nuapada district of Odisha.
It has been reported that the leopard spotted in Nuapada was crossing the road. A few youths who were driving by in a four-wheeler spotted it and immediately recorded the majestic animal while it was crossing the road.
It is worth mentioning here that, spotting of leopards in Nuapada near the human settlements has now become common due to decrease in forest cover. The wild animals get confused and head towards the human settlements in search of food.
Animal sightings like these have become common in and near the Sunabeda Sanctuary area. The local forest department has been informed about the leopard sighting. They have launched a search operation for the leopard. The Department has further advised people not to venture into the forest or travel in two-wheelers or cycles in and near the sanctuary roads at night.
