There has been a major boost to Odisha’s Maritime History, as the first ever capesize vessel berthed at Paradip Port. Chief Minister Mohan Majhi shared a video on X and informed about this major development.
A significant milestone in Odisha’s maritime journey has been achieved. Paradip Port has successfully berthed its first-ever Capesize vessel at Western Dock-1, marking a major advancement in deep-draft handling capabilities.
The CM wrote, from the historic maritime traditions of Kalinga to modern-day global trade, Odisha continues to expand its horizons. The Paradip Port boasts of greater capacity, stronger connectivity and new opportunities for industrial growth.
With the help Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the support of Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal Odisha is strengthening its port. And its role as a leading maritime gateway for India.
From Kalinga’s seafaring legacy to Paradip’s modern maritime strength, Odisha continues to sail forward. Paradip Port Authority has successfully berthed MV Mineral Kwangyang, its first-ever Capesize vessel with a 16.5-metre draft, at Western Dock-1.
The 292-metre vessel, carrying over 1.52 lakh tonnes of coking coal from Australia, highlights Paradip Port’s enhanced deep-draft handling capabilities and readiness for larger bulk carriers.
